Mr. Coleman received his Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, from the University of California, Berkeley and his Juris Doctor, cum laude and with honors, from the University of California, Hastings College of Law where he was a staff member on the Hasting Communication and Entertainment Law Journal. He also obtained a Masters of Law in Taxation from New York University School of Law and studied for a year at the Georg-August Universitat, Gottingen, Germany.
Mr. Coleman is admitted to practice law in California, before the Unites States District Court (Central District of California) and the United States Tax Court.
Before joining Oldman Cooley Sallus Birnberg Coleman & Gold LLP he had been a Deputy Public Defender III, and then had his own law office. He also served as a judge pro tempore for the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Mr. Coleman has spoken to legal and other groups on probate accounting, probating estates with low net values and on the revisions to the rules on disqualified beneficiaries.
He is a member of the California State Bar Trusts and Estates Section, the Los Angeles County Bar Association Trusts and Estates Section and the San Fernando Valley Bar Trusts and Estate Section (where he was both the Program Chair and the Section Chair).
Mr. Coleman is the partner in charge of office technology for the firm.
Mr. Coleman comes from a family of lawyers and his father and grandfather were Judges of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
He writes and speaks German.
