Ms. Cooley received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UCLA and her Juris Doctor from Southwestern University School of Law.
Ms. Cooley is admitted to practice in California and in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She is a member of the Trust & Estates Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and has served on its Executive Committee including serving as Chair of that Section from 2000 through 2003. She has also been on various panels invited to speak at Section meetings.
Ms. Cooley has authored multiple articles for the Los Angeles Daily Journal on probate-related topics and has been a speaker and consultant to radio and television stations including issues concerning the guardianship of O. J. Simpson’s children. She also has been a consultant to the California Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) on guardianship and conservatorship practice and a featured speaker on trust, estate and litigation matters.
She has received the following awards and honors: selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, Top Lawyers in Southern California and Super Lawyers, and was awarded Boss of the Year by the San Fernando Valley Legal Secretaries in 1992. She has an AV Preeminent rating in Martindale-Hubbell’s peer reviewing.
Ms. Cooley has handled and is recognized for her skill in the most complex probate-related litigation. One of her cases, Estate of Duke (2011) 201 Cal. App.4th 559, was decided by the California Supreme Court in favor of her client for which she recieved the Clay Award for “extraordinary achievements” issued by the Los Angeles Daily Journal.
Ms. Cooley participates in equestrian polo, is a published atrophotographer and classical musican.
